Google Photos Cloud Import & Sync
Import high-resolution image libraries and client albums directly from Google Photos into BestShots without downloading files to your local drive.
Direct Cloud-to-Cloud Asset Transfer
For photographers who back up field shoots, event coverage, or client previews to Google Photos, downloading gigabytes of images to a local hard drive just to re-upload them into BestShots creates unnecessary delay and exhausts local disk space.
The BestShots Google Photos integration enables direct cloud-to-cloud transfers. Your selected albums and date ranges stream directly from Google cloud storage into your secure BestShots project vault, completely bypassing your local computer and home internet bandwidth.
3-Step Import Workflow
Connecting and importing from Google Photos is fast and straightforward:
- Connect Google Account: In your project photo upload screen (
/projects/[projectId]/add-photos), select the Import from Google Photos tab and click Connect Google Photos. A secure authentication window opens to authorize access to your Google Photos library. - Select Albums or Date Ranges: BestShots launches the intuitive Google Photos picker. Browse your library by album name, event, or specific shoot capture dates. You can select individual frames, full event albums, or multiple days of coverage.
- Start Background Cloud Import: Click Import Selected Photos. BestShots initiates the transfer immediately in the background. High-resolution inspection proxies and camera EXIF metadata are generated and registered directly in your project.
Tip
You do not need to keep the browser tab open while cloud imports run. You can safely close your browser or navigate to other shoots; the import continues processing uninterrupted.
Deduplication & Credit Protection Safeguards
Accidentally selecting the same album twice or importing overlapping date ranges will never waste your studio credits or clutter your workspace:
- Smart Asset Deduplication: BestShots tracks unique Google asset identifiers. If an image already exists in your project, the import engine detects the duplicate and skips it automatically.
- Credit Ingestion Guarantee: Credits are never deducted for duplicate frames or skipped assets. You are only charged when new, unique photos are successfully queued for AI culling.
- Unified Catalog Sorting: Imported Google Photos frames appear in your project gallery chronologically based on their original camera capture timestamps, blending seamlessly with any locally uploaded RAW frames.
Long-Running Transfer Resilience
Wedding galleries and multi-day commercial shoots often comprise thousands of images:
- Continuous Background Ingestion: Large imports running over several hours execute smoothly with automatic connection renewal.
- Real-Time Progress Counter: The project header displays live progress indicators showing imported counts, processing status, and completed image previews.
- Instant Culling Availability: As incoming photos arrive in your project catalog, they become immediately available for preview, star rating, and burst stack inspection.
