Facial Detection & Alignment: As photos are analyzed, the system locates faces across all frames, including tight portraits, candid interactions, and wide crowd shots.
Visual Feature Grouping: The AI compares facial characteristics (such as eye distance, nose bridge, cheekbones, and jawline structure) to group appearances of the same person across changing lighting conditions and angles.
Automatic Avatar Generation: For each identified subject, BestShots selects their sharpest, best-composed portrait and generates a centered visual avatar thumbnail in the project sidebar.

Naming & Organizing Your Shoot VIPs

Once BestShots discovers your recurring subjects, you can organize them directly in the desktop workstation sidebar:

1-Click Renaming: Click any unnamed subject avatar and enter their name or role (such as "Bride - Jessica", "Groom - Marcus", "Maid of Honor", or "CEO - David").
Merge Duplicate Profiles: If a subject was photographed under drastically different conditions (such as indoor tungsten preparation versus outdoor direct sunlight) and appears in two separate profiles, simply drag one avatar onto the other or click Merge Subjects.
Hide Incidental Background Faces: If a background guest or venue staff member was detected in only a few frames, click Hide Subject to keep your VIP list clean and focused.

Coverage Balance Audit: View real-time photo counts next to each avatar badge. Instantly verify that each key family member or VIP received sufficient coverage before finalizing your delivery gallery.

Studio Privacy & Account Isolation

Strict Shoot Isolation: Subject facial groupings are private to your individual studio account and shoot project.
Zero Cross-Matching: Your client photos are never cross-referenced against external databases, public records, or other user accounts.
Zero AI Training: Facial crops and grouping data are never used to train or refine public machine learning models.
